After two highly-successful seasons, and one ending last year with a trip to the second round of the playoffs, Canon McMillan will open their quest for their third playoff appearance next month in a re-aligned Double A West Division. They'll be without six of their regulars from last season, but at least a dozen more players are expected to be around again, who were part of the playoff teams for the past two seasons. Among the veterans returning are forwards Adam Zeh, Jeff Warnock, Dave Wauthier, Nick Godfrey, Doug Stanton, Matt Bohn, Josh Tohey, Jesse Patnesky and Jim Gordon. Also expected to return following the football season is Doug Rheam, who can provide plenty of offense.

Defensively, Eric Lang will return, while Drew Stanton figures to anchor the goal, but could well share the duties with Shannon Anesetti, who is considered one of the best female goaltenders in Western Pennsylvania. The big change, however, is in coaching, where Dave Fryer takes over a head coaching position for the first time, after serving in the past as an assistant in Mt. Lebanon. It's been a new learning experience for both Fryer and his players, but Fryer says the returning players plus the newcomers have begun buying into his system. ...

In Double A, Canon-McMillan defeated Carrick 8-1. Jesse Patnesky netted the HT, while David Wauthier and Doug Stanton each scored a pair; Josh Toohey added the other goal.
